Cassie and Shay are best friends, business partners and co-founders of the million-dollar business The Bucketlist Bombshells. The Bucketlist Bombshells is an online educational community that teaches millennials how they can create a business that allows them to work remotely while traveling the world. Their online courses are value-packed, teaching students skills like graphic design, social media management, and website design. They also teach students how to get clients and run a full-fledged business from their laptop. Cassie and Shay’s teachings have impacted over 70,000 women and gotten them featured in places like Forbes, CNBC, and Elite Daily.
Cassie and Shay join Her Life By Design to share how someone can get started working online. They share their best tips for finding clients, their favorite destinations to work remotely, and much more.
What’s the story behind The Bucketlist Bombshells?
Six years ago, Cassie and Shay were both in college and, while they knew they wanted successful careers, they realized once in their 9-to-5’s that “it wasn’t the exciting, inspiring career they had planned for.”
“We knew there was something more. We just didn’t know what that was,” Cassie shares. “So we both booked flights out to Mexico and met in a coffee shop!”
With a similar story to bond over, the women decided to start freelancing online. They started offering skills they already had and developed new ones through using Google and taking online courses. “We started doing social media management, blog management and Pinterest management for clients.”
“Once we were able to have a steady income online, it was like this lightbulb moment and we realized we could work from anywhere in the world with just our laptops.” Cassie says, “Six years later, we empower other women to do the same.”
What are The Bucketlist Bombshells courses?
BB have three courses: “Two foundational skills courses, which teach people tangible skills they can then sell as services and the third is the ‘Work Online and Travel the World’ course,” which is for women who want to start and launch a service-based online business to have the freedom to work remotely from anywhere.

What advice would you give to people wanting to start a venture with a friend?
“We have different but complementary skill sets.” Shay shares that building a business with a friend comes down to finding that person you can comfortably solve problems with in a way that you’re both respectful and understanding of each other.
How can I find work and clients as a freelancer?
Shay shares her three main tips for sourcing clients:
- Have a business website built before you start trying to land clients, which showcases what you do and how people can get in touch with you.
- Utilize FB groups. Shay recommends you join groups where you know your potential client is spending time in. In the podcast, she shares actionable tips for how to get noticed by people in the group, how to set up your profile to create leads, and how to get hired by people on FB.
- Send out pitch emails to potential clients. Listen in to the episode to learn how to find contacts you align with, how to effectively pitch, and how to be intentional with your pitching.
I want to begin work remotely, anything I should consider?
“Travel is a whole other ball game when you’re deciding to run your business on top of it,” Cassie explains. “Over the past 6 years, we’ve really started to create a list for ourselves of things that are important to us in a city that we live in.”
The girls share a list of the things they take into consideration when choosing their remote base, including being in an environment that promotes a healthy & active lifestyle and being in a place that has practical needs, like co-working space and good Wifi.
“Life in another country when you first touch down is a job in itself,” Cassie admits. “Everything is figure-out-able though and working remotely is so fun. We just want people to know it takes time. We’re not at the beach sipping mimosas all day!”
